American Heart Association Description: Health Fairs reach people at all levels of the community including children and their teachers, working professionals, patients and doctors. National Foster Care Month Description: Looking for volunteers to help out Our Children Keeper’s “Family Vision Board Building 101” in honor of National Foster Care Month. Vision boards are an awesome way for people to plan for their futures. Vision boards are white boards with cut outs, crafts, pictures and much more. Volunteers will assist with the workshops held in Sacramento Public Libraries. Student volunteers will be needed for: set up from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm as well as for assisting at the event (2:00 - 5:00 pm). Volunteers will be provided with complimentary food and beverage and our heartfelt appreciation! Harper Junior High Community Garden Description: In need of volunteers to help lay the irrigation for a new community garden. After installing irrigation, volunteers will backfill the trenches. Co-op Day at the State Capitol Description: In celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives, USDA Rural Development is hosting an event at the California State Capitol and is need of volunteers! The event is an opportunity to educate legislators about the importance of cooperatives to California's economy. Each participating Co-op will be designated an area at the State Capitol where they can set up a table and provide information, answer questions, and spread awareness about their co-op. The ALS Association, Greater Sacramento Chapter is looking for volunteers for our upcoming 25th Year Anniversary Summer Soiree. The Summer Soiree is The ALS Association’s “Silver Screened” themed fundraiser held at the Library Galleria in downtown Sacramento. No experience needed, just the willingness to help and the kindness to give back—we’ll train you on the rest! ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive degenerative disease which causes the upper and lower motor neurons to die; leading to muscle weakness and atrophy. The ultimate result is paralysis; however, patients with ALS can still see, hear, smell and feel. The goal and mission of the Greater Sacramento Chapter is to raise awareness, provide education and critical resources to its patients, caregivers and the community. At this time The Chapter serves 300 patients a year and hundreds of caregivers throughout 24 counties in Northern California and needs your support. We are looking for volunteers to help us from 7 AM until Midnight, with shifts starting in two to four hours increments, but we would appreciate anytime you are available. Join our building and maintenance team at the Heidrick Ag History Center. Something always needs a little TLC from people who know how to get things done. Woodwork Do you know how to build, paint, and engineer backdrops, building walls, restore vintage equipment, and stay within local codes? If you have these skills and are a project oriented person, Cliff would like you to join our team. Office and Guest Services If you are interested in greeting guests, answering phones, and helping with activities around the office, we’d like to hear from you. If you know computers we have more opportunities. Weekends and weekdays can be especially busy and your weekly commitment to help would further our ability to keep the museum vibrant. Story Tellers Are you a born story teller and understand California agriculture and transportation then you would enjoy being a museum attendant. Gradually you learn more about the collection of tractors and trucks and engage visitors with stories about the past. Event Outreach Just want to volunteer a couple of hours a month? We have events and take some of the collection on the road to the fair and other community events. Volunteers are needed to guide guests, provide information, and cultivate an interest inthe collection. If you enjoy volunteering for a few hours here and there, let us know. |
